J. Mercy Baby – ‘He She’s Mine’ / ‘The Letter’ – P&P 101 (US)

J. Mercy Baby was the alias for drummer and singer Julius “Jimmy” Mullins who cut a couple of great sides with Frankie Lee Sims in the late fifties (on Ace, the fantastic ‘Silly Dilly Woman,’ and on Ric, ‘Pleadin’ ’). The tiny P&P label out of Hattiesburg, Mississippi was Mullins’ own set-up, releasing five singles in 1965. These are two stunning sides; give them a listen if you don’t know them!

Condition: Excellent, a surprisingly fine pressing quality for such a tiny label (please listen to the clips). Clean labels (please see scans).
