The St. Matthew Passion, Bach's monumental retelling of the story of the Last Supper and the arrest and execution of Jesus

5 LP set in a big box. Complete with LP sized booket with loads of information. Seems it was released in both Mono and Stereo, as the booklet gives the details and matrix numbers for both codes. This set is the stereo one.

Its a 5 LP set, but it only plays across 9 sides - 1 of them is a blank side with the Columbia logo etched into it and a "do not play this side sticker" !  - Strangely, the non-playing side is number 2 (and not 10, as I think you would reasonably expect).

Condition is generally very good. Box/cover is showing slight signs of its years, it's lightly marked and you can tell its not new - but, as you can tell from scans, still in very collectable condition. The slightly peeling sticker you can see in the top right corner is not a price tag, its the "Stereophonic" metallic gold sticker that was on many lp covers when the format was relatively new.

The vinyl is all in good (very good even) condition. I have listened to snippets of all 9 sides - and the fidelity is good on all of them. It looks like an item that has been played - but also very well taken care of.
