Johann Strauss Vienna Holiday Knappertbusch UK Decca SXL 2016
1958 Stereo Recording RARE Decca FFSS
On “Vienna Holiday”, the Vienna Philharmonic conducted by Hans Knappertbusch performs the “Radetzky March”, “Acceleration Waltz”, “Tales from the Vienna Wood”, “Tritsch-Tratsch Polka”, “Leichtes Blut Polka”, and “Annen Polka” by Johann Strauss’ and “Bad’ner Mad’In Waltz” by Karel Komzdk, and “Wiener Burger Waltz” by Carl Ziehrer. An English stereo pressing on the Decca Label (SXL 2016 stampers 3E/3E), the labels are black with silver lettering, Full Frequency Stereo Sound fatband and logo and Original recording by… at 10 o’clock. The record has some small marks on side one that causes 3 loud clicks and three small marks on side two do not sound. Otherwise the record is of excellent appearance, and plays and sounds superb with a minimum of surface noise. The cover laminate has rubbed a little with a ring and is in very good condition. The rear foldovers have cut-outs, and the original ffss inner bag is excellent.
