JACKIE MCLEAN "Jackie's Bag" DG, RVG, P, Blue Note 1557 Mono Vinyl
This is the first edition, 1961, Deep Groove, "RVG" stamped, "P" pressing of JACKIE MCLEAN's "Jackie's Bag" on the "47 West 63rd" labels of Blue Note BLP 4051. Musicians include Jackie McLean - alto saxophone, Tina Brooks - tenor saxophone, Blue Mitchell - trumpet, Kenny Drew - piano, Paul Chambers - bass, Art Taylor - drums.
VINYL plays with consistent low to medium level surface noise (i.e, static, ?? or
????
, relative to the volume of the music/instruments) with occasional ticks, but the instruments are very dynamic, clear and present with clear transients, powerful extension and full tone. No distortion. No skips. Both sides have good gloss. Handful of hairline marks, none feelable. See photos. The Deep Groove labels are largely clear and clean, with spindle marks. See photos.
LAMINATED COVER is in very good condition, 1" tape on bottom seam. Corners worn. See photos. Spine excellent; top and lower seams excellent with some cracking, and 1" tape. See photos. "BLUE NOTE RECORDS INC., 43 West 61st St., New York 23, N.Y" back jacket shows moderate wear, tape top right corner, light pencil. See photos.
This LP was play-tested on a high-end system consisting of Music Hall MMF-7.3 turntable/Ortofon Bronze cartridge, Heed Audio Elixir integrated amplifier, and Quad S2 speakers (with very revealing ribbon tweeters). ALL RECORDS CLEANED ON VPI INDUSTRY STANDARD VPI 16.5 VINYL CLEANING MACHINE.
