Description

JACKIE MCLEAN “Let Freedom Ring” Blue Note 4106, “Van Gelder”, P , DG, Mono Vinyl.

This is the 1962, first edition, mono, “Van Gelder” stamped, Deep Groove, “P” pressing of JACKIE MCLEAN’s “Let Freedom Ring” on the “New York USA” labels of Blue Note Records BLP 4106. Musicians include McLean, Walter Davis, Jr., Herbie Lewis, Billy Higgins.

VINYL plays with consistent medium-loud surface noise, aka crackle. But the noise is beneath the music, which is delivered powerful, clear, and very dynamic throughout. Vinyl has a handful of hairline marks, none feelable. Strong gloss both sides. The deep groove “New York USA” labels (“R” under “Note”) show some wear, light spindle marks under direct light. See photos.

Front LAMINATED COVER is in very good condition, with large two-inch wrinkle / water damage at lower right corner. Spine and seams excellent. Corners worn. The “BLUE NOTE RECORDS, 43 West 61st St., New York 23” back jacket is clean with lower left corner tape and water damage. See photos.

This LP was play-tested on a high-end system consisting of Music Hall MMF-7.3 turntable/Ortofon Bronze cartridge, Heed Audio Elixir integrated amplifier, Heed Quasar Phono stage and Quad S2 speakers.
