Description
Up for auction is a stunning copy of the Jackie McLean album "New Soil" released on Blue Note Records (BLP 4013) in 1959. This is a guaranteed authentic and original mono, deep groove first pressing. Plastylite "ears" and RVG in the dead wax. No "Inc." and no "R" on either matching, deep groove W. 63rd St. labels, as it should be. Matching W. 63rd address on back cover, too. All the bells and whistles here. This copy is as close to "as new" as you can imagine, which is incredible for a 55 year old record.
The cover looks pristine, retaining its original high gloss laminate shine on front cover. Lamination shows no bubbling, no tears, no separations. Corners are sharp, no bumps or dings. Seams are perfect, no cracks, no flaking, no splits. Back cover is pristine, bone white, no blemishes, no writing, no signs of aging discoloration. Looks like it was just taken out of the original factory shrink wrap. Hard to imagine finding a better preserved example. I'd grade the cover Near Mint Plus (NM+).
The vinyl is also pristine condition. Looks virtually un-played. No obvious scratches or scuffs on the surfaces. Retains full, original high gloss luster. Labels are clean and bright, no marks around spindle holes. One small dot the size of a pen tip on Side Two that is a slightly different shade than the rest of the record--hard to see, can't be felt, not a pressing blip. Absolutely does not affect play back in any way, and almost not worth mentioning. I'd grade the vinyl Near Mint (NM), my highest grade. Not likely that this copy could ever be up-graded in your collection.
