This is the original 1969 first issue of Jacqueline Du Pré’s celebrated recordings of the Haydn D Major and Monn concertos on the HMV dog-in-semicircle label. Copies of this disc have recently sold on ebay for up to £280, and dealers offer at £350, reflecting its rarity and desirability in the market.
The laminated sleeve is in generally very good condition with no tears or significant damage. There is wear to the edges of the aperture, slight edge creasing, and small crescent-shaped areas where the laminate has lifted. The back is very clean with slight soiling to the edges of the flipback and one very small dark mark.
The record has clean labels with only slightest traces of spindle marking. Surfaces are generally excellent but please note that on Side 1 there is a thin diagonal scratch about 90mm in length which extends slightly over three-quarters of the way into the first track (I have tried to show this in the photo). Except for a short group of soft clicks at the end of the first movement, this is non-sounding and the LP plays through to EX/NM standard with quiet surfaces and clear undistorted sound throughout.
