Description
JADE WARRIOR - LAST AUTUMN'S DREAM
Increasingly rare original UK 1972 12" LP, with gleaming and sparingly played 1st press 1Y//4, 2Y//4 matrix vinyl on the coveted Vertigo swirl label, STEREO 6360 079
Matrix Numbers : Side 1 6360079 1Y//4 420 1 1 5 04 ; Side 2 6360079 2Y//4 420 1 1 3 04
Both sides of the vinyl gleam with the original jet black lacquered sheen. The record is totally flat and in normal daylight appears to be in virtually unmarked condition; with close inspection under a bright light just a few very wispy hairlines and extremely light paper scuff lines come into view, including a slightly more visible (but still too faint to show up in any photograph) thin scuff line which commences at the beginning of track 3 on side 1 and continues into the dead wax area - all very trivial, strictly surface only, purely superficial and not impinging upon the superb sound quality one bit! Clearly this vinyl has been played sparingly and I have no hesitation in grading it's condition as EXCELLENT PLUS (EX+)
If it wasn't for just a couple of small and very, very faint spindle trails adjacent to the centre hole on each label I would grade the condition of the labels as being near mint, so certainly an EXCELLENT PLUS (EX+) is again in order!
The beautiful non-laminated gatefold sleeve is again in excellent plus (EX+) condition. All of the edges and corners remain firm and well defined, as is the spine (with all spine text 100% intact), with no creasing or tears and all of the colours, and beautiful art work, have retained their rich vibrancy with perfect definition. There is barely any edge scuffing at all - just a couple of very small and very light scuff marks on the bottom front edge and the hint of a 1cm very light scuff mark on the top front edge towards the top right corner; each corner remains a nicely defined right angle with virtually no rubbing at all. The inside of the gatefold is simply gorgeous...hard to fault with the only blemish (too strong a word) being a very small "shadow" mark at the very bottom of the internal spine (see photo). So, not quite perfect but certainly a solid "excellent plus".
The audio quality is stunning. No background crackle or other interference. No skips, repeats, pops, clicks, or jumps. Just perfect, with great tone and clarity throughout even at higher volume and frequency. This record has obviously been sparingly played. EXCELLENT PLUS (EX+) or better!
The track listing is :
Side 1:
1. A WINTER'S TALE
2. SNAKE
3. DARK RIVER
4. JOANNE
5. OBEDIENCE
Side 2 :
1. MORNING HYMN
2. MAY QUEEN
3. THE DEMON TRUCKER
4. LADY OF THE LAKE
5. BORNE ON TO THE SOLAR WIND
Comes complete with the original poly-lined, black and white Vertigo swirl inner sleeve, with all of the correct text and no creasing, no seam splits, no tears, just a little very mild age discolouration towards the top edges and remaining fully functional. There is a red shop stamper towards the top of the front side bearing the name "CAERPHILLY" - the town in Wales where the presumably the record was originally purchased. Again, excellent plus (EX+).
A highly collectable copy of this increasingly rare and hard to find (especially in condition and audio quality as impressive as this) UK 1st press prog rock gem - a welcome addition to any serious vinyl collection.
POSTAGE COSTS : For the UK, £7 using Royal Mail special delivery;
for continental Europe £15 using Royal Mail 1st class tracked and signed for,
and for the rest of the world £21 using Royal Mail 1st class tracked and signed for. I make no profit from postage.
NOTE : For shipments to Italy I now use either UPS or Parcelforce : tracked and insured for a flat fee of £16.
Note that I always insert the vinyl(s) into a new plain white poly-lined inner sleeve in order to protect the original during postage, and separate this from the sleeve itself to prevent seam splits. I use thick cardboard stiffeners and take great care in my packaging to ensure as far as possible that these precious records reach their destination in exactly the same condition as when they leave me.

A bit about myself : I have been collecting UK vinyl for over 50 years from a variety of sources : my own collection, friends and family, car boot and garage sales, door-to-door leaflets, and even through placing an advert in my wife's costume hire shop window! My ebay feedback speaks for itself so rest assured that you are buying from a trusted seller and in the very unlikely event that you are unhappy with your purchase just e-mail me and I'll sort out the problem. I offer a "no questions asked" refund policy. If you require any further information, including photos, then let me know and I'll do my best to oblige. There is NO RESERVE on this item. Richard
Descriptions of any records I sell comply with the Rare Record Price Guide grading guidelines :
Mint The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.
Excellent The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.
Very Good The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
Good The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.
Fair The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.
Poor The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing
Bad The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.
