THIS LP IS SERIOUSLY RARE AND VIRTUALLY IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND!!!!  THIS IS ONE OF THE RARER LPs ON THE VERTIGO - AND VIRTUALLY NEVER TURNS UP FOR SALE!!!!  JUST TRY AND FIND ANOTHER ONE!!!!  BACK IN 1971 WHEN THIS LP WAS FIRST RELEASED - IT ONLY EVER SOLD IN ABSOLUTELY TINY AMOUNTS, AND WAS ALMOST IMMEDIATELY DELETED!!FINDING THE NEW ZEALAND ISSUE IS EVEN HARDER THAN THE UK ONE.  
                              

 1971  1st press Vinyl Condition:  EX+.  Barely played or possibly unplayed as there are no spindle lines no hairlines or fingerprints just some miniscule retraction lines if observed under a stron light. This is the earliest VERIGO vinyl, unbelievably heavy and with a full glossy "as new" sheen. A joy to behold!!!

Jon Field and Tony Duhig met in the early 1960s when working in a factory (both driving forklifts) Soon they found common musical interests (jazz, African and Latin American music), started playing instruments (Jon a set of congas, Tony a guitar, which he tuned unconventionally to open C), bought a four-track tape recorder each and started experimenting with multi-layered overdubs. According to Field, the process was not unlike "...trying to build a cathedral with the sort of things you'd find in your back yard," but still, as it turned out, formed a blueprint for Jade Warrior's music throughout their career.

In 1965, the two formed a rhythm & blues outfit called Second Thoughts with Patrick Lyons on vocals, which released one four-song EP. Meanwhile, in a parallel line of development, Tom Newman (later the engineer for Mike Oldfield's Tubular Bells), Alan James, Pete Cook and Chris Jackson had formed the Tomcats] In 1965, both bands split up, Lyons joining Alex Spyropoulos in a (then) duo Nirvana, which released five LPs (with Jade Warrior members guesting on 1972's Local Anaesthetic)  Reformed with a new line-up - Newman, James, Jackson, Jon Field and Tony Duhig – Tomcats spent 1965-1966 in Spain where they released four EPs to much local acclaim (later Acme Records released them as a single LP, having included The Second Thoughts' EP). In 1966, Tomcats returned to England, changed their name to July, and released their one only (eponymous) album, a psychedelic pop-rock collection. (Later it was re-issued as Second of July with some alternate versions and outtakes, and then as Dandelion Seeds with yet a different tracklist).

 Vinyl:  EX+. I have played this in full> There are NO jumps, NO clicks and NO sticks!!!Even under an intense light it looks NM.  The audio is stunning all the way and this album sounds fantastic and was totally underrated at the time. It totally went under the radar and is now extremely scarce especially as a first issue on the extremely collectable Vertigo   label!!

Gatefold Sleeve: VG+ to EX. THIS IS A SPECTACULAR BEAUTIFUL SLEEVE TO BEHOLD. The pics show all. An absoluty great upgrade!! Rich like newly printed colours, this has been stored away from sunlight for  42 years. No stickers, NO writing, NO tears , one tiny split near the top spine where there is an amount of wear, light delamination over the spine.  Apart from this it would have been a full EX to EX+. The inside gatefold is beautiful and has the top and bottom flipbacks.  Notoriously hard to find but impossible in this condition!!!

This is a unique investment opportunity!!! This album hardly sold at all. Finding this album in any condition at all is nearly impossible so late in the day. Psych/Prog crossover albums are far and few between these days. This album is only going to go one way ... up and up ... until it will be totally unavailable at all for a reasonable price. How many would be left???  Golddust!!

It still has the original polylined inner sleeve.
