REVIEW: SUPER RARE 1967 LP by psych/folk songwriter Jake Holmes. This LP contains the original version of "Dazed And Confused", which Led Zeppelin covered (without crediting Holmes) on their debut LP.
Apparently Mr. Holmes was on tour with The Yardbirds while Jimmy Page was a member of that group. Mr. Page heard Mr. Holmes perform the song on tour several times and liked it quite a bit. Mr. Holmes has yet to receive a dime from the more successful version of his song, but the music business is not always fair.
This is also the rarer MONO version of the LP!!
MONO pressings of LPs are sometimes more than just STEREO LPs compressed into one channel. In many instances, different effects, different recording levels, alternate tracks, or different arrangements were used, as well as different mixes, to produce a wholly unique sound. As the MONO LP faded out of existence in the late 60s and early 70s, they became quite scarce quite quickly, and therefore are highly collectible today.
