Description
Here's a STILL FACTORY SEALED LP by JAMES BROWN, SEX MACHINE. This is a OG 1970 PRESSING on KING RECORDS. CAT #KS-7-1115. There's a slight separation of the shrink on bottom right corner. This could be one of 3 pressings released in 1970. SEX MACHINE is the climax of his greatest period, and one of THE most important albums he made, and backed by the Collins brothers Catfish and Bootsy. Bootsy would depart James Brown's band soon after this to join Parliament Funkadelic.Sex Machine
is often considered to be one of the greatest and most important soul records of all time, and arguably the high point of Brown's creative heyday from 1967-1971. It was ranked 1st in SPIN magazine's 25 greatest albums of all time in 1989. Sex Machine was also voted the 34th greatest album of all time in a VH1 poll of over 700 musicians, songwriters, disc jockeys, radio programmers, and critics in 2003. It purports to be a live recording. However, the first LP's worth of material consists of tracks recorded in studio settings with added reverberation and overdubbed applause (some of which subsequently were released in unadulterated mixes, most notably on the 1996 Funk Power compilation CD.). All but one track of the second LP apparently were recorded live in concert This is super rare to see a copy that's still sealed. Everyone I know who grabbed this record when it was released couldn't wait to rush home and throw it on the table... STILL SEALED- MINT
