Description

A local rarity from Detroit. Released on the JTTP (private) label, James Tatum and ten other musicians in total perform live sets for this piece that are approachable, catchy, technically sound and right up the alley of modal and / or post bop jazz lovers.

This is a hard record to find, especially outside of Detroit (have seen it one other time IN Detroit, and only one other Tatum title in general). Tatum didn’t achieve the fame and notoriety as some peers from the jazz scene at this time but these recordings show why there is a cult following behind his music and why people will dig and dig to find their own copy.

Beautiful wax (EX) and sleeve (VG+)
