Wikipedia  has a page devoted to the gifted and accomplished cellist, Janos Starker.  Here is a passage:

Starker's playing style was intense and involved great technical mastery. According to some of his students, his technique revolved around long, legato notes, with very little shifting noise from his left hand, resulting in smooth, pure tones, "each note sounding like a jewel." Starker himself described his sound as "centered" and "focused." He was known for his ability to produce an extremely wide range of sounds and tone shading. He eschewed the wide vibrato favored by some of his peers—which he viewed as a cover for poor intonation—and was known for his patrician stage presence, preferring to let the music do the emoting. He quoted his long-time friend and colleague, Gyorgy Sebok, who said, "Create excitement. Don't get excited."

THE VINYL -  This beautiful triple set of records is lightly played with no visual evidence of spindlewear, and the six sides of the LP surfaces retain all of their original gloss. 
 
Bright, undamaged, Blue and Gold Mercury labels (please see photos). 
                                                     
The records show exceptional care and handling, and the stereo playback is impressive.

Records # 1 (sides 1 & 2) and # 3 (sides 5 & 6) :  NM with no marks.

Record # 2 (sides 3 & 4) :  EX+ :  There are some light and shallow marks limited to the beginning of each side.  I completed a playgrade to discern their effects, and they produce a light but audible click. On side 3,  they extend from C1 to about 1 minute into C2.  On side 4, the light click affects only D1. 

The remainder of side 3 & 4 is NM.




THE BOX SET COVER -  EX :  Please see photos / well-stored with some scuffing, and a spot on the front, top, left where it looks like a sticker was removed / bright colors / all of the seams, including the spine, are intact, with the exception of the right top and bottom corners (of the opening lid) that are split / no writing, paper loss, paper tears, dirt, or stains. 


Included is the original paper inset that was issued along with the set (please see photos). 

We have placed each of the 3 LPs into separate, protective plastic sleeves.
