"Janos Starker / Bartok First Rhapsody / Mendelssohn Variations Concertantes, Opus 17 / Martinu Variations On A Theme of Rossini / Debussy Sonata No. 1 in D Minor / Chopin Polonaise Brillante, Opus 3 / Weiner Hungarian Wedding Dance / Gyorgy Sebok, Pianist" LP on 1960's US issue Mercury Living Presence Records #SR 90405 stereo...The album is still sealed as new, NEVER OPENNED, and has only a small pinhole on the bottom right corner, and original store discount price sticker on the front (Mfg. List Price $4.79 / Special Price $1.97)... otherwise looks pristine NEW MINT PERFECT!!! Vinyl guaranteed as NEW UNPLAYED....No promo stickers, so I imagine this is a standard issue LP, and probably is a vendor label, trailer stamper numbers unknown, but highly rated as a fine piece by the master......I use Goldmine magazine's strict guidelines for rating records, and most dealers think I rate TOO Hard! ....Mailed in a special hard cardboard LP mailer, sent priority in the USA for $6, or media rate for $3.00... Overseas, please see the US post Office internet site for rates and restrictions. Most LPs in the mailer weigh about one pound...
hmmm.. a LOT of people are watching this auction, but no bids...looks like it will go crazy in the last 10 seconds, so if you really want this LP, be PREPARED to get sniped! It is a stupid way to have an auction, but this is the way it now goes on ebay! (That's why I have a store, and put stuff up for auction only if I can't estimate the value of an item!) ...and this one is certainly worth a LOT more than the openning bid..I think I even sold an openned mono version of this for $80.00) and if you have any questions, PLEASE email me anytime, but don't expect answers if you hold off till the last hour! ..so good luck snipers....
And this LP was Janos Starker's another duo session in 1963. The accompanied piano was played by Gyorgy Sebök, who played most of Starker's duo sessions on this label.
On every track, Starker plays so marvellous - spontanous vibrations between the players, the atmospherere, amazingly speedy cello play, but at the same time courteous and beautiful sound - everything's great.
