Description
Artist: RED GARLAND QUINTET
Title: “Soul Junction”
Label: IMPULSE ~ PRLP 7181. Monaural pressing on medium weight vinyl. Label is yellow with black text, with deep groove. “RVG” is stamped in the runout groove.

Condition:
DISC: Vinyl retains 100% of original gloss, has been played a small number of times and handled with care. Grades nice VG++ with a couple minor hairline scuffs. There are a few soft tics, but no serious marks or problems. Fidelity is excellent. Labels are clean. A very fine playing copy.
JACKET: Jacket is nice VG+. Front panel is clean and bright, has a few traces of ring wear. Seams and spine are excellent except approx 2” seam split at top right. Reverse has ring wear and darkening around the edges. No writing, stickers, or cutout indications.

“Pianist Red Garland’s very relaxed, marathon blues solo on the 16-minute "Soul Junction" is the most memorable aspect of this album. With such soloists as tenor saxophonist John Coltrane and trumpeter Donald Byrd, plus steady support provided by bassist George Joyner and drummer Art Taylor, Garland gets to stretch out on the title cut and four jazz originals, including "Birk's Works" and "Hallelujah." Coltrane is in excellent form, playing several stunning sheets of sound solos.”
