J.B Lenoir | Alabama Blues | German 1979 reissue vinyl LP | VG+

1979 reissue of 1966 CBS release from Chicago based Mississippi man J.B. Lenoir | 5 tracks with visceral drum accompaniment provided by the legendary Fred Below | One of two acoustic albums done in Chicago under supervision of Willie Dixon | Superb original vocal style and a decent blues writer - I Feel So Good & Mama, Talk to Your Daughter being great examples found on this title. Unusually for the genre he was quite outspoken in his lyrics regarding political matters. Overlooked to some degree due to an early death (in the same year as this was originally released) curtailing an accelerating career.

Good, close, dry sound to the album | Some age-appropriate low-level crackle but plays strong all the way through | Linn Selekt Records sticky seal remains on open edge of sleeve - see photos | My only bugbear (other than not having space in the house to keep it) is that the disc is ever so slightly smaller in diameter than most records, making it a fumble to remove from the platter for less than nimble digits like mine!
