Description of item:
New Day Records #1374"Circleville" / "A new day (is here at last)"
Condition of this record is only G+ mostly because of the labels (see images).
The vinyl has a lot of the original shine but has some light scratches.
Has some pops in the middle of "Circleville"
and a some near the end. "A New Day" has some pops as well,
mostly at the beginning and at the end.
This record is a long way from perfect but what a rarity!

His 45s on this label are highly sought after and can be had for a few hundred dollars
each.

"I J.C. Davis was born in north Carolina I’ve attended high school Jordon Sellers Burlington North Carolina. I played in high school concerts and also the marching jazz band. After high school I attended collage at A&T in Greensboro North Carolina. Then I had a band called the Down Beat’s where we played at a number of clubs. I had played at the A.B.A club than I left to hit the road to play professional music with my band backing James Brown and the Famous Flames then playing with Etta James also Jackie Wilson. I recorded music for King Records, Dade Records, Chess Records then my own Record company New Day Recording. Then my record A New Day was used by Justin Timberlake in his song Damn Girl. Davis is most notorious for his work as James Brown’s bandleader through the mid-’60s. After leaving the Godfather’s side, Davis moved to Columbus, Ohio, and settled down, playing only the occasionally local gig. One day in 1969, Davis and a group of local musicians cut six memorable tracks at Columbus, Ohio’s Mus-I-Col Studio. They released four of those recordings on two separate 45s for their own New Day label with very limited distribution. Many years later, the original tapes have been remixed and mastered and released in their entirety on this limited-edition release. New Day Columbus HR-1341 J.C. SS. Still Sealed & unplayed.
UNPLAYED. Usually store stock records I have
more than 1 copy of that I know haven't been played.
M. I never grade anything MINT
NM . Nearly flawless, nice shine and clean
labels. May have a "BB" hole in the label.
VG++ . Very nice record, not quite NM.
May have a light surface scratch not
affecting the sound or maybe a light name
written on the label.
Otherwise a very collectible record.
VG+ . Not quite as nice as VG++
but still a good record.
G++/VG-. Has some problems, scratches
and scuffs and probably an inferior label
with soil and wear.
G-/Fair/Poor. Usually worn out. I will only offer
records in this condition if they are extremely
rare.
