First ever vinyl reissue - remastered from the original reels - 180 gram vinyl. Jean Michel Jarre released Equinoxe in 1978. If Oxyge`ne was a hymn to the air, Equinoxe was an ode to water; music that was fog, mist, almost organic. Jarre created in eighteen months a veritable electronic symphony of intertwining melodic themes. The electronics allowed him to evoke, not imitate the sounds of nature. He recreated them on a synthesiser like Fellini had recreated the sea or the sky at the Cinecitta` studio, giving them a personal colour or rhythm.

Who has made the best synth album ever? Well, some would say Schulze, some would say Kraftwerk, some Tangerine Dream and some Jean Michel Jarre. I guess that the question can never be answered - it's a matter of taste really. One thing is for sure though. When it comes to the ability of making atmospheric soundscapes and cathcy themes, Jarre beats them all. Equinoxe was released back in 1978 and synth albums from that period often sound outdated because of the progress with computers and synths in general, but Equinoxe will never become outdated. Jarre has a unique eye for detail and even though I've listened to this album hundreds of times I still find new things in the music that I haven't heard before. The album is complete, meaning that it never loses the atmospheric feel. The music isn't just in the room when you listen to it - it surrounds and embraces the room. Many have tried to recreate the feel of this album and all of them have failed miserably, no one has ever come close - except for Jarres own Oxygene. The "hit" songs of this album would be Equinoxe 4,5 and 7. To me there can be no doubt. This is the best album ever and you owe it to yourself to listen to it. 40 years after the huge international impact of OXYGENE, and 20 years from its second volume OXYGENE 7-13, Jean-Michel Jarre is fulfilling a trilogy of albums with OXYGENE 3, containing seven newly composed and recorded pieces, consistently titled parts 14-20. 

This release brings together Jarre’s three pieces of futuristic mastery together in one place facilitating an exciting journey through modern electronica.

This Oxygene Trilogy ultimate edition contains CDs of the albums, as well as clear vinyl and an exclusive coffee table book. The book contains pictures and a brief description of the various recording equipment (studio tape recorders, master SSD and tapes, DAW software, etc.) and musical instruments (organs, synthesizers, drum machines, VST plugins, etc.) used to record the three albums in the Oxygene series.
