JEFFERSON AIRPLANE AFTER BATHING AT BAXTERS 1st UK ISSUE RCA BLACK LABEL (GROOVED WITH 1K STAMPER CODES) IN FRONT LAMINATED SLEEVE
Sleeve Condition: VG: sadly, it looks as if the sleeve has got a little damp at some time and though there is only the vaguest suggestion of a stain to the rear, there is some residual waviness at the opening edge which can be quite clearly seen in the photos. There is also an ink inscription to the top left rear corner. Having said all that, the sleeve is fully intact with no sticker tears or significant marking or damage other than mentioned here.
Record Condition: Ex: the vinyl looks more or less, Near Mint and in fact, apart from a couple of superficial marks on Side 2 so slight that they are literally invisible unless held against a strong light at a certain angle, the whole LP looks almost unplayed.
What prevents a Near Mint grade is just an occasional crackle on the run in groove, particularly on Side 1 which soon disappears when the music starts and occasionally elsewhere. I am probably making more of this than is necessary as the music plays fine throughout without distortion or defect and I am testing it on my latest spec Linn LP12 and EAR Tim de Pavaracini valve amplification. Suffice to say that the vinyl looks Near Mint and plays Ex to Ex+.
The first pressings of this album on black RCA label have simply disappeared from circulation. Some orange label second issues come up from time to time, incorrectly listed very often as a first pressing. With all its sleeve defects, this is the genuine article, a 1967 first press, first release with matrix numbers to verify its authenticity, black (grooved) RCA SF 7926 ?After Bathing..?, vinyl LP.
