Very rare original UK 1st press vinyl album from 1972 by this heavy prog / psych band from Israel previously known as The Churchills then Jericho Jones before shortening it to Jericho.

Rare original pressing on red transparent vinyl, when you hold the record near to a bright light it appears blood red, (repressings are black vinyl and do not change colour), of this killer ex-Churchill's mega heavy prog LP. What a monster this LP is, the opening track "Ethiopia" with its huge eastern tinged riffs is a jaw-dropper... as heavy as early 70s rock ever got!

A few light marks and wispy hairlines.....both sides play great throughout with loud crystal clear sound

(The vinyl surfaces are bright and shiny, flat and warp free.  Both sides have a few light surface marks, wispy hairlines and tiny scratches. Grades at a solid VG+ verging on EX. This original UK thick heavy vinyl pressing plays extremely well and sounds absolutely great played at loud volume. The whole album play great throughout with a loud-cut vibrant sound, typical of these well pressed early 70's A&M label albums. All frequencies are clear and there is not any major deterioration in sound quality. On playback there are just a few tiny ticks and light clicks and you can hear some surface crackle on the run in grooves and between some tracks. Nothing major and nothing to seriously detract from the enjoyment of this great record. There are NO jumps and NO sticks. Overall a very good plus verging on near excellent condition original 1st pressing of this incredible heavy progressive rock album which plays great and should keep you happy until you can find a mint copy.....if one exists!)

(THE MOST NOTORIOUSLY FRAGILE SLEEVE EVER MADE - MORE PAPER THAN CARD - LIGHTLY TEXTURED  & VERY THIN)

(This original thin lightly textured sleeve has quite a bit of wear, this seems to be common on this very fragile original sleeve, I would grade it at VG minus. The front and back of the sleeve have some impression ringwear, edge creases and quite a lot of scuff wear can be seen on all the seams and along the entire spine. On the front there is a small sticker removal stain and a sticker tear near the top left corner. On the back are two more sticker removal tears near the top and bottom edges, a name is wriiten at the top corner, and a record shop address is stamped near the spine. Please look at the pictures I've provided)

On offer here, from my own collection, is the very rare self-titled LP by JERICHO and is an INCREDIBLY rare original UK 1972 1st pressing on the 1st Press A&M label!! Ex Churchills, Ex Jericho Jones, this is the third album from these Israeli psych prog heroes, here with their UK recorded heavy prog masterwork.

THE FINEST PSYCHEDELIC ALBUMS EVER!

The style of JERICHO is highly influenced by DEEP PURPLE'S early prog-rock albums, and it's as good if not BETTER than those early DP albums. A lost 'Deep Purple' album....well almost....

It's a wonderful combination of thunderous extended hard-rock tracks with Blackmore-like savage guitar riffing mixed with more mellow symphonic progressive elements. From the opening sledgehammer chords of 'Ethiopia', an attention-grabber from the off, with a fast pulse and memorable riff, this album never gives up for one second! The best track is probably the lengthy 'Justin And Nova', coloured by atmospheric keyboards and melodic strings, together with a spellbinding vocal, and incendiary chiming guitar work. 'Feathered' is the most ambitious track, full of shifts in tone, and at times recalls the twin lead guitar attack and of the kind of music Wishbone Ash were making at this time. The eleven-minute closer, 'Kill Me With Your Love', completes the album and is an epic monster showstopper in its own right!! This album is a classic and if you like 70's rock and your on the look out for some great music BUY THIS!!!!  Amazing stuff!

'Jericho' is an essential heavy prog rock album, in fact A LOST CLASSIC, and is well worth a place in any collection of early 1970s heavy rock! I'd highly recommend this album to 'Deep Purple' fans - and of course prog-heads everywhere!

Because there are some dodgy repressings around, an important characteristic for the 1st press is the incredible thin cover, lightly textured with the same thickness spine (later ones have a thick sleeve with a thicker spine!) - To be sure, that this record is a 100% 1st press, you can make a simple test: If you hold it up to the light, it will shine slightly through it, showing a blood-red colour - this does not happen with a later press!!! As well the 1st press must have the original "MacNeill Press" thinner lightly textured cover!!

This awesome heavy prog LP is virtually impossible to find as a 100% genuine original UK 1st transparent red vinyl pressing!!!

MINT (M): The record / cd displays barely any signs of use, if any, with no marks or deterioration in sound quality. Extra items and cover are near perfect.

EXCELLENT (EX): Shows only minor signs of being played with very little lessening in sound quality. The Cover and extras will have some light wear and or creasing

VERY GOOD (VG): Has been played many times but has no major deterioration in sound quality, despite some noticeable surface marks and occasional light scratches. Cover and extras will have normal wear and tear but no major defects

GOOD (G): Has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and any extras may suffer from folding, scuffing, split spine, discoloration etc.

FAIR (F): The record is still just playable and has considerable surface noise and may even jump. Cover and contents will be torn stained and/or defaced.

POOR (P): The record will not play properly. Covers badly damaged or partly missing
