JERRY LEE LEWIS GREATEST ORIG SUN MONO PRESS

Get Rhythm Records is proud to offer:

"Greatest!" by Jerry Lee Lewis
Sun LP 1265, Mono, 1961

Though this features the classic smash "Great Balls Of Fire", the title of this Jerry Lee LP - his second and final LP release on the original label - is a bit of a misnomer, being a somewhat haphazard collection of original Sun tracks rather than an actual greatest hits collection.  It nevertheless rocks out with a great groove from start to finish, featuring the original, unadulterated sound of Sam Phillips' Memphis Sun studio.  An absolutely essential Jerry Lee collection.

On offer here is a totally original and rare U.S. heavy vinyl MONO pressing of the album on the original yellow Sun "Microgroove" label.  The record itself is in good condition visually. The surface features near original luster and shine, but a number of light needlemark-type scratches are noticeable on both sides, as well as a bit of light scuffing. However, like many mono pressings of the era, these prove to have a relatively minor effect on the playback quality, which rates as a strong VG, especially when played on a system with either a mono phono cartridge or a mono-compatible switch on the receiver.  It is very much an enjoyable listen, with just some light crackle and a few light pops audible here and there, mostly between tracks.

Deadwax matrix codes:

Side 1: SU-137 with "Phillips SM" inscription
Side 2: SU-138 with "Phillips SM" inscription

The cover is in exceedingly nice near mint condition.  The only flaws to be noted are some light ringwear on the back, a bit of light bending at the lower left corner, and a bare hint of bottom edgewear.  Truly gorgeous!

>Please see images of the actual label and cover of the record on offer here below, which include a listing of tracks appearing on this album...
