JERRY SOLOMON - AT THE SHOW BIZ - FOUNTAIN LABEL # 104 - PRIVATE PRESSING - 1978 - MONO LP + 5 INSERTS...

LP comes in a generic plain white jacket with an inscribed and torn inner sleeve (we'll also provide a new one)...  The LP is in VG+ condition and signed by Jerry Solomon on the side two label... There are some light flaws in the vinyl towards the end of side two which resulted in some light pops and a skip...

Included with the LP are (5) 8 1/2" x 11" photo inserts in plastic covers from Jerry Solomon's personal collection :

From Vernon Joynson's "Fuzz, Acid, & Flowers Revisited" : "Originally from Nebraska, Solomon was based in the Los Angeles area in the sixties... It is thought that he spent some time in a mental hospital, which may explain the odd character of his recordings... primitive melodies amateurishly sung against an eerie backing for the most part... His records are sought after by collectors of the very strange"...

Regarding this LP :

From "Acid Archives" - Here Jerry ventures into lounge territory via "Open Mike Night" at an LA night spot... He delivers a mix of covers and originals including an old 45 track "Look at the Flowers"...He's backed by roller rink organ and an overly enthusiastic drummer (possibly Jerry himself)... Jerry sings in a variety of voices and ranges, as beautifully demonstrated by his deconstruction of "Blueberry Hill", and a Florence Foster Jenkins / Mrs. Miller type rendition of "I'm forever blowing bubbles"...

One wonders if he was trying to channel Yma Sumac for his version of "El Condor Pasa", but then it disintegrates into a polka-lounge cheese-organ breakdown... The finale is the original " I came with my cheriot" (sic), a drum only backed rap / rant...

Overall, this represents Jerry's least subtle and most overtly depraved LP.. If only he'd done "MacArthur Park"...
