RARE 1970 ORIGINAL ATCO WHITE LABEL PROMOTIONAL PRESSING – MONARCH PRESSING WITH EARLY MATRIX DETAILS

Up for sales is an authentic 1970 original White Label Promotional (WLP) copy of the self-titled debut album ¡Jesse Davis! by legendary Kiowa-Comanche guitarist Jesse Ed Davis. Distributed strictly to radio stations and music reviewers ahead of release, this rare artifact features the classic text-based ATCO promotional labels and the iconic front cover illustration painted by the artist's father, Jesse Edwin Davis II. This copy is a definitive Monarch Record Manufacturing first pressing out of Los Angeles.

Jesse Ed Davis remains one of the most influential yet unsung heroes of roots rock, blues, and Americana. A master session guitarist, his distinct, soulful slide work famously graced records by Taj Mahal, Leon Russell, Albert King, and ultimate classic rock masterpieces (including John Lennon's Walls and Bridges and George Harrison's Concert for Bangladesh). Recorded at Atlantic South-Criteria Studios in Miami, Florida, and Sunset Sound in Los Angeles, this 1970 debut session was produced by Jesse Ed Davis alongside legendary producer Jim Dickinson. The album represents the peak of early '70s swamp-rock and country-blues fusion.

CONDITION DETAILS Vinyl (EX): Beautiful, clean vinyl retaining a bright, glassy factory gloss. It plays wonderfully with warm, crisp and vibrant fidelity. Paper scuffs or surface hairlines are minimal and do not impact the playback. Clean promo labels with no writing or spindle wear. The vinyl is the star here, plays thorough clean with great dynamic presence, really highlights all the playing on this very cool LP.  The guitar work stands out, perfectly supported by the backing band this really shows on side 2 track 4 the Van Morrison tune "Crazy Love". Sounds like every night is a saturday night coming through with pure analog punchy warmth. 
Jacket Sleeve (VG+): Firm, sturdy cardboard with strong edges and bright, unfaded green borders. It shows very light handling and minor edge wear consistent with careful archiving. The distinctive blue-and-white "PROMOTIONAL COPY - NOT FOR SALE" sticker is fully intact and cleanly adhered to the top front corner. Includes the original vintage ATCO inner sleeve, fully intact and well-preserved.

DEAD WAX MATRIX & PRESSING The run-out grooves feature the complete definitive stamps and etches indicating this as an early-run Monarch factory original: Side 1 Matrix: ST-C-702001-B MO (MR) AT Δ15332 aB w (Early -B Lacquer Cut) Side 2 Matrix: ST-C-702002-C MO (MR) AT Δ15332-X aB w  Key Identifiers: "MO" and the (MR) stamp confirm the Monarch pressing; "AT" verifies mastering at Atlantic Studios in NYC; and the "Δ" sequence tracks the authentic Alco plating date from late 1970.
