Description
JETHRO TULL A Passion Play 1973 UK 1st PRESS Nr MINT
COMPLETE w/LINWELL THEATRE PROGRAMME - SUPERB COPY
JETHRO TULLA Passion Play
UK CHRYSALIS (CHR 1040) FIRST PRESSING (July 1973) OF JETHRO TULL'S MUCH BERATED PROG MASTERPIECE "A Passion Play" DELIVERING CRYSTAL CLEAR, CLEAN, SHARP AND BRIGHT SOUND THROUGHOUT - SOUNDS SENSATIONAL
PRESSED WITH THE FIRST ISSUE GREEN CHRYSALIS LABELS (and contrary to what the Record Collector Rare Record Price Guide may say by mid 1973 the Green Chrysalis labels no longer carried the Island white i logo)
FIRST PRESS MATRIX: CHR 1040 A-4U / CHR 1040 B-4U (the lowest matrix set for this LP)
MOTHERS/STAMPERS: 1/GT and 2/GT
THE RECORD IS HOUSED IN THE ORIGINAL MATT GATEFOLD SLEEVE WITH THE FACTORY SEALED, 'FOLDED-UNDER' LEFT SIDE EDGE AND INTERNALLY PRINTED LYRICS - THE INSIDE OF THE GATEFOLD HAS TWO SLOTS WHICH HOLD THE LINWELL THEATRE 'A PASSION PLAY' 8 PAGE GLOSSY PROGRAMME
Track Listing: (these titles were provided by Ian Anderson for the 1973 test pressing and are not included on the official release which merely states "A Passion Play" on both labels - the play is continuous)
Side One: Lifebeats / Prelude / The Silver Cord / Re-Assuring Tune / Memory Bank / Best Friends / Critique Oblique / Forest Dance, No. 1 / The Story Of The Hare Who Lost His Spectacles (part 1)
Side Two: The Story Of The Hare Who Lost His Spectacles (part 2) / Forest Dance, No. 2 / The Foot Of Our Stairs / Overseer Overture / Flight From Lucifer / 10.08 To Paddington / Magus Perde / Epilogue
LABELS: EXCELLENT
Clean and bright labels with rubbing from play around the spindle hole - this copy has clearly been well played but also extremely well cared for - evident from the practically unmarked playing surfaces
VINYL Visual: NEAR MINT
The surfaces shine like new with only light wispy hairlines - these have no audio impact - there are no other marks
VINYL Audio: NEAR MINT
Outstanding audio performance - one of Tull's finest produced and engineered records.
My careful play-check at very loud volume revealed no audio issues of note - no scratches, no loud clicks or pops, no prominent surface noise and no groove-wear or distortion - it plays beautifully throughout and is one of the finest playing copies I've heard in a long while
SLEEVE: NEAR MINT
The gatefold cover is also in beautiful condition - crisp, clean and fresh with no ring wear - a really fine example
LINWELL THEATRE PROGRAMME: NEAR MINT
Practically untouched
ALL RECORDS ARE PACKAGED WITH THE VINYL OUTSIDE OF THE SLEEVE TO PREVENT ANY 'KNIFING' DURING TRANSIT
A PROTECTIVE POLY SLEEVE, NEW INNER SLEEVE WITH NEW ANTI-STATIC LINER, QUALITY BOX (NOT ENVELOPE) MAILER AND AMPLE STIFFENERS ARE ALWAYS USED TO ENSURE THAT YOUR RECORD ARRIVES SAFELY
