rare orig. UK vinyl LP released 1971 on green CHRYSALIS stereo label with catalognumber ILPS 9145. Note: even though a handful of copies have been sighted on the palm tree (pink rim) label (with or without gothic text) those are 'in-house' or export oddities. The first official release of Aqualung in the UK was on the green Chrysalis label and it had the original ILPS 9145 (P. 1971) catalogue number with all lettering in gothic text and NO red 'i' island logos and original, unaltered matrix numbers: ILPS 9145 A-1U / ILPS 9145 B-3U ...

This copy also has these same matrixnumbers:  ILPS 9145 A-1U and ILPS 9145 B-3U ... thus one of the earliest UK copies, probably from the time of label crossover. This is still the thicker, heavier pressing than later issues and there is no 'A PORKY PRIME CUT' annotation.  In any case the soundquality is absolutely amazing, same as a very first pressing with white "i" on the labels ...

Yes, it comes with the beautiful gatefold cover with famous cover art, lyrics innersleeve and it states "Printed and made by the E.J.Day Group, London and Bedford"... as well as "A product of Chrysalis Records Ltd., 388-396 Oxford Street, London, W.1.  Manufactured and distributed by Island Records Ltd., Basing Street, London, W.11."  ...
