JETHRO TULL - CAPTURED LIVE! - 1983 US RADIO 3LP - EXCELLENT+
This is a mega rare US 3LP Radio Show of Jethro Tull entitled "Captured Live!"; Tracks: Side 1: Intro (03:45); Black Sunday (05:10); Crossfire (03:50); Songs From The Wood (03:30); Commercials (02:00); Side 2: Hunting Girl (04:44); Pine Martin's Jig (03:05); Heavy Horses (07:06); Commercials (02:00); Side 3: Batteries Not Included (03:43); Uniform (06:40); Commercials (02:00); Side 4: Skating Away (On The Thin Ice Of A New Day) (03:20); Flute Solo (06:00); Trio (04:38); Commercials (02:00); Side 5: Guitar Solo (02:57); Aqualung (07:48); Bungle In The Jungle (03:55); Commercials + Outcue (02:00); Side 6: Blank.
As you can see, this 3LP set is only 5-sided and the discs are sided 1+3, 2+4 and 5+blank to enable the DJ for continous broadcast without interruptions. The show is hosted by Perry Stone and as usual with these broadcasts, the programme is spiced with various commercials. All tracks are recorded live at the Los Angeles Sports Arena on 11th December 1980 during Jethro Tull's "A" tour. This concert was previously released by RKO in 1981 as the 3LP "A Night On The Road"; Perry Stone erroneously mentions Peter-John Vettese as the keyboard-player where it should be Eddie Jobson. The audio quality of this concert is of course excellent! Total running time of the entire program is 74:26.
This 3LP radio show was released/distributed in the US in 1983 by the RKO Radio Network for broadcast during 1983 (no specific broadcast date is mentioned), release number CL 583-A to E, manufactured and distributed in the US by Donora Manufacturing Co., Holtsville, NY, USA. The records come in white paper inner sleeves with round-off corners and with centre cut-out on both sides, and go in a single white soft-cardboard outer sleeve (see pictures). There is a pink cue-sheet listing the progress of the program, meant for the DJ to tune and for the ease of following while listening/broadcasting.
All three records are in excellent, near mint condition; they have not been played many times; there is hardly any surface noise and absolutely no deterioration in the sound quality; there are no scratches and no jumps. The inner sleeves are like new; there is no tear or wear, there are no nicks, there is no writing, no stains, etc.; the outer sleeve is in the same excellent condition; there is no damage at all; there are only some tiny marks from filing; in the top left corner is a paper sticker with the band's name, title and filing number. Overall, this 3LP set can be graded as in Excellent Plus condition.
An extremely rare 3LP US radio show of a fantastic Jethro Tull concert in more than excellent condition; a must have for your collection because you won't find another like this!
