I AM OFFERING ANOTHER HIGHLY SOUGHT AFTER PROG / PSYCH ROCK VINYL LP RARITY FROM MY COLLECTION OF SIMILAR ITEMS !! THIS IS PROBABLY ONE OF THE BEST PROG ALBUMS EVER MADE  IT WILL DEFINITELY BE IN THE TOP TEN BEST PSYCH/PROG ALBUMS EVER CONCEIVED!!!!!!HARD TO FIND AS A FIRST PRESS THESE DAYS. THIS IS THE "EYE" LABEL WHICH IS THE ONLY ORIGINAL FIRST PRESS ISSUE FOR THIS CLASSIC ALBUM. LATER LABELS ARE MORE COMMON LIKE THE "I" LABEL AND THE PALM TREE LABEL. THERE IS ALSO A HARDER TO FIND "BLOCK" LOGO WHICH IS EQUALLY RARE BUT STRICTLY SECOND PRESS.

Stand Up is the second album by Jethro Tull. Before this album, the band's original guitaristMick Abrahams resigned because of musical differences with Ian Anderson; Abrahams wanted to stay with the blues-rock sound of This Was, while Anderson wished to branch out into other musical forms. Overall, however, the album does remain more broadly in the style of blues rock than future Jethro Tull albums.

Stand Up represents the first album project on which Anderson was in full control of the music and lyrics. It also marks the first appearance of guitarist Martin Barre, who appeared on every Jethro Tull album from this point on. The album goes in a different direction from Ian Anderson's earlier work, revealing influences from Celtic, folk, and classical music. In particular, the song "Fat Man" showed an interest in unusual instrumentation, as Ian Anderson played mandolin, one of the first times the instrument had been used by a rock band. The instrumental "Bourée" (one of Jethro Tull's better-known numbers) is a jazzy re-working of "Bourrée in E minor" by J.S. Bach. Ian Anderson has said that the melody and solo in "We Used to Know" were used by the Eagles in "Hotel California" as a type of tribute. The Eagles had opened for Jethro Tull at one time.

The album reached No. 1 on the British charts. The gatefold album cover, in a woodcut style designed by artist James Grashow, originally opened up like a children's pop-up book, so that a cut-out of the band's personnel stood up — evoking the album's title. Stand Up won New Musical Express's award for best album artwork in 1969.

Vinyl: EX.  A fantastic ultra heavy vinyl and even despite a couple of light hairlines this plays phenomenally. The ultra high groove walls ensure the very best audio experience possible for this album. The vinyl retains its beautiful gloss and has probably not been played very much. The earliest ISLAND vinyl is the equivalent of a Rolls Royce in the motor industry; heavy, longlasting and nearly indestructible. Of course NO skips, jumps, crackle etc.

Gatefold Gimmix Sleeve: EX.  I have not often come across a Stand Up sleeve without some amount of damage but this copy is just fantastic and I'm very happy to offer this.  It is unlaminated and has the vulnerable pop-up of the band. This sleeve is beautiful with only a small name "Mike" and a number in ballpoint to the back near the top. Even the pop-up is immaculate. The front is unmarked without creases. The edges are unbelievably crisp and the spine is 100% legible. This is a "keeper" for sure!! The pictures tell all. It has the original polylined blue printed inner which has a few numbers written to the front.

This is a unique investment opportunity!!! The next prog album to go completely through the roof. Finding this album in any condition at all is nearly impossible so late in the day. Get this while you still can. This value of the album is only going to go one way ... up and up ... until it will be totally unavailable at all for a reasonable price.
