Description

JETHRO TULL - 'THIS WAS'. STEREO. ISLAND ILPS 9085 (1968).

First UK pressing on the textured pink ISLAND labels. EX/EX+ gatefold sleeve. EX/EX- vinyl!

Gorgeous vibrant sleeve with minor wear. Some laminate bubble on front edge and corner near spine (see photos 9 and 10).
Textured 'first issue' textured labels in great condition (see photos). A debut UK ISLAND classic!  Hard to score a decent copy these days. Vinyl has a few sporadic light needle surface marks - hence the EX- rating. (Many sellers would grade this higher). The vinyl is very glossy and a heavy weight pressing, so any faults are hard to hear. The clarity of this pressing with the stereo mix is STUNNING.  This cover has the wide spine in excellent condition with no loss of laminate. The spine has some light deformation towards the bottom (photo 8) but in all this is super-clean!

Sought after UK psych LP in the better sounding STEREO mix. Check out similar auction results on popsike dot com to get an idea of past auction results of this record in similar condition.

The time has come for me to start selling off big chunks of my otherwise 'keeper' collection. Some of these records are incredibly hard to find in such superb condition. The records in my eBay listings are from my own personal record collection. I am not a record dealer. Some particular records I have bought two or three times over - just to get that special 'keeper' copy. These listings are the fruits of my collecting effort which spans over 25 years.

My
Buy It Now prices fairly reflect the market and demand for these genuinely rare records. Just search through sites like Popsike dot com for some past examples of eBay auction results over the last few years. The Buy It Now option makes it fair on everybody... too many disappointments can be had by not bidding high enough and finding out you missed having an item by £5 or less!  My regular auction listings start with a price I am happy to sell at, and if demand dictates that this price goes higher then that's all good.

In the very rare event that you are disappointed, I will accept returns if items are not as described and issue a full refund (minus your return postage costs).

PayPal ONLY PLEASE. Items selling over £38.00 will be insured and sent by Special Delivery and/or Registered Post with insurance. £6.50 for UK, and £13.00 for Rest of the World.
For specific prices, please look at the last photo. If postage is significantly more than quoted I will refund any difference.

Regarding postage and shipping:  I am not Amazon.com.  I go to the post office once or possibly twice a week.  During the holidays it will be increasingly painful, so be patient.  "Priority mail" means it goes by air...it does not mean it goes out in the next hour.  I have never had a package lost and have never had any complaints about packing - in fact my packing rates among the best on eBay. I use cruciform mailers (usually doubled-up) and loads of parcel tape to ensure a strong package.

Please read my checkout instructions. Please wait for my invoice before paying, as postage to different global locations can vary. Full refund given (minus return postage) if item is not as described.

STRICTLY GRADED. (Play graded, and visually graded to Record Collector standards).

Any questions please email...

I have no need to use the words MEGA, ULTRA, or c**p on about how many of these LPs got trashed at parties. I try to avoid exhaustive usage of exclamation marks in my honest descriptions and I also avoid the over-use of CAPITAL letters (unless they are used for relevant emphasis to my auction description) and I do not wish to shout at my buyers. I know that you know about the records you wish to purchase. One other thing - I do not sell items which have had the opening edges of the cover trimmed by a guillotine or blade to make the covers appear in better condition. Some other sellers do this as a regular practice, and it's just not on.
