GRADAZIONE RIGOROSA - STRICTLY GRADED

Copertine e vinili sono visualmente gradati dopo un’attenta osservazione sotto la luce del sole fatta sulla mia terrazza a tetto. Nelle giornate grigie il controllo viene effettuato sotto una forte lampada alogena con l’aiuto di una lente d’ingrandimento. Tutti i dischi in asta sono stati interamente ascoltati, i 33 giri su un giradischi Rega Planar 3 fornito di una testina a magnete mobile Grado Statement 1 mentre gli EP e i singoli a 45 giri con un Thorens TD 166 BC fornito di una testina, sempre MM, Goldring 1006. Ritenendo che le abituali classificazioni quali Mint, Ex, Vg, ecc., ecc… siano poco significative per spiegare le reali condizioni dei dischi ed anche estremamente soggettive, precedo sempre tali classificazioni con una breve descrizione degli eventuali difetti che ho riscontrato, ad eccezione di Mint- che il più alto grado che conferisco a qualsiasi disco. Soltanto per le copie ancora sigillate all’origine utilizzo MINT/MINT.

Sleeves and vinyls are visually graded after a careful check in bright sunshine on my roof terrace. In the gray days I watch the records under a strong halogen lamp with the help of a magnifying glass. All records in auction have been fully heard. Lps on a Rega Planar 3 turntable with a Grado Statement 1 moving magnet cartridge, EPs and singles 45 rpm. on a Thorens TD 166 BC turntable with a Goldring 1006 MM cartridge. Considering that the usual classifications such as Mint, EX, Vg, etc…, etc… are not significant to explain the real condition of the records in addition to a total subjectivity of opinion, I always introduce before these classifications a short description concerning any defects I have verified with the exception of Mint minus, the highest grade I declare. I use MINT/MINT exclusively for the still from factory sealed copies.

Note : non avevo mai ascoltato questa colonna sonora e confesso di essere rimasto piacevolmente sorpreso per la sua bella musicalità prevalentemente caratterizzata da buon funk rock. I due generi ben combinati dal compositore Jim Helms coadiuvato da Norma Green e Gary Le Mel, danno vita a ritmi incalzanti sia nei brani strumentali che nelle canzoni. Tastiere, chitarra, sassofono, flauto,tromba, basso e batteria sono gli strumenti utilizzati per realizzare questo tipo di sonorità. Tra questi brani: “Vieux Carré” (a2) con belle improvvisazioni dell’organo, “Mother’s Girl” (a3) caratterizzato da un ottimo drumming e sonorità funky di tastiere e fiati. “Royal Street” (a4) ha belle vene funky-jazz, un’ottima linea di basso, sax e batteria. “Mr. Funky” (a6) e “Come on In” sono due canzoni piene di sonorità funk interpretate da Sonny Geraci, cantante solista del gruppo The Outsiders e fondatore del nuovo gruppo, Climax, proprio nello stesso periodo di quest'album. Ed infine “Lance Lover” (b4) dal ritmo veloce e stimolante. Ci sono poi due canzoni “Lady in the Early Morning” nelle versioni dei titoli iniziali e finali (a1, b6). Ambedue sono cantate da Gary Le Mel. Si tratta di una piacevole ballata con accompagnamento sonoro differente nelle due versioni ma con in comune un vivace ritmo. Per il resto tre brani strumentali d’atmosfera tra cui l’inusuale “The Moral” (b5) con tromba, effetti sonori, chitarra elettrica e flauto.

I titoli dei dodici brani con la loro durata possono esser letti guardando il retrocopertina raffigurato nella scansione n° 2.

Notes : I had never listened to this soundtrack, and I confess to have been pleasantly surprised by its beautiful musicality mainly characterized by excellent funk rock. The two genres well blended by the composer Jim Helms with the assistance of Norma Green and Gary Le Mel, give life to fast-paced tracks both in the instrumental pieces that in the songs. Keyboards, guitar, sax, flute, trumpet, bass and drums are the instruments for achieving this kind of sound. Among these pieces: "Vieux Carré" (a2) with beautiful organ improvisations, "Mother's Girl" (a3) characterized by an excellent drumming and funky sonorities of keyboards and brass. "Royal Street" (a4) has lovely funky-jazz nuances, a great bass line, sax and drums. "Mr. Funky"(a6) and "Come On In"are two songs full of funky sound performed by Sonny Geraci, lead singer of the group The Outsiders and founder of the new group Climax just in the same period of this album. And finally, "Lance Lover" (b4) from the fast and exciting pace. There are two songs "Lady in the Early Morning" in the versions of the initial and final titles (a1, b6). Both are sung by Gary Le Mel. It is a beautiful ballad with different sound accompaniment in the two versions, but having in common a lively rhythm. For the rest three instrumental atmospheric tracks including the unusual "The Moral" (b5) with trumpet, sound effects, electric guitar and flute.
