Description
Rare and ORIGINAL Black / Gold LONDON TRI 45 by Jim Reeves – ‘Penny Candy’
DESCRIPTION:
On offer with no reserve. An original First Press UK Black / Gold LONDON TRI 45 pressing of Jim Reeves - ‘Penny Candy’ released in 1955. Gentleman Jim Reeves was perhaps the biggest male star to emerge from the Nashville sound. His mellow baritone voice and muted velvet orchestration combined to create a sound that echoed around his world and has lasted to this day. Reeves was capable of singing hard country ("Mexican Joe" went to number one in 1953), but he made his greatest impact as a country-pop crooner. From 1955 through 1969, Reeves was consistently in the country and pop charts; an amazing fact in light of his untimely death in an airplane accident in 1964. Not only was he a consistent presence in the American charts, but he became country music's foremost international ambassador and, if anything, was even more popular in Europe and Britain than in his native America.Original issue copies of this 45 are extremely hard to source in genuine collectable condition; fortunately the example offered in this auction is superb and of genuine interest to Black / Gold London Tri label collectors. Please see below for detailed condition report, images and sound clips of both tracks featured on this gem –

CONDITION:
A note on grading I use the Record Collector grading system with the addition of a (+) or a (-) to denote a slight increase or decrease in condition. Items described with an aural grade have been carefully played on a Thorens TD-124 MKII with an SME 3012 Tonearm and Ortofon SPU moving Coil Cartridge.
I have been collecting and trading records for many years and genuinely want you to be happy with your purchase. For this reason I treat grading very seriously and strictly enough to please all potential bidders… all of Audio Grails records are guaranteed. If you'd like any further details, feel free to e-mail me with your questions or requests.
p>Sleeve:
Original London pin stripe stock sleeve = (EX) p>Record:
Both playing surfaces of this 45 display a full lustre featuring a few non sounding paper scuffs (NOT SCRATCHES) only under direct angled light. The disk is flat with no warp or buckle of any kind. The wonderful Black / Gold Tri London labels show light signs of use to the spindle hole only. The Tri Centre is 100% intact and original. There is no writing, rips, stickers or other detractors. The audio quality of this MONO pressing is great, I have listened through both sides keenly and the resultant condition grade of this copy is a solid EX (Excellent)…Please take the time to study the images above and listen to the sound clips which I hope illustrate the condition of this gem far better than wordy descriptions
