Earliest Matrix Numbers & Stampers!!

Hendrix fans will understand the importance and meaning of these 1st pressing matrix & stamper numbers

This is a 1968 UK pressing of Electric Ladyland with the fully laminated 'naked ladies' Ernest J Day 1st pressing gatefold cover.

Cover: E J Day fully laminated gatefold cover with the blue text on the inner gatefold and the larger photos of Mitch & Noel. This is the earliest pressing with the Track 613008/9 catalogue number inside the gatefold. The blue text pressings were difficult to read and were withdrawn shortly after release and replaced with white text which was easier to read. The later pressings also reduced the size of the Noel and Mitch photos.

No writings/doodles or stickers. The front cover and inside has some laminate creasing and the spine has wear. There is some wear to the edges. Not mint but rates as Very Good+ for a 41 year old cover.  Comes with the original poly-lined inner sleeves.

Because I am not allowed to show the naked ladies front cover on ebay, I have taken a close-up photo of the spine and front cover. If you wish to see these before bidding, please send a message through ebay with your email address and I will send them to you.

Vinyl: Play tested. Reasonable sheen and the vinyl generally looks to be VG+ with some feathering and light non-feelable scratches. Plays VG overall - no skips/jumps anywhere on my system.

Side A has some crackle at the beginning, between tracks and during quieter moments rates as VG(-).  Side D has less crackle which really only noticeable between tracks and rates as VG. Side B Is much better and plays VG+ to Near Excellent. Side C has some crackle at the beginning but settles downs as the side progresses and rates as VG.

There is nothing like hearing this Hendrix record played really loud - beats a CD every time!!! Not mint or even excellent but even with some background crackle they still sound great. Most tracks rock so much that any background noise is really only noticeable during the quieter moments or between tracks. These records had not been played (until I tested them) for around 35 years and I am sure a good clean would get rid of some of the crackle.

Labels:  Has Sides A&D on one LP and sides B&C on the other. Inverted catalogue numbers on left hand side above the regular catalogue number - see scan - only 1st pressings had this.  All labels are excellent with no names, doodles, writings or stickers.

Gradings.......

Mint - The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality.

Excellent - The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality.

Very Good - The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality despite noticeable surface marks and occasional light scratches.

Good - The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and  more significant scratches.

Fair - The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise, it may even jump.

Poor - The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc

Bad - The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection filler.
