Description
JIMI HENDRIX
"ELECTRIC LADYLAND" DOUBLE LP
UNIQUE
1968 UK MIS-PRESSED
FACTORY SAMPLE
on the
TRACK LABEL
613008/9
I have owned many of these early UK pressings but these are strangest mix of
machine stamped matrix numbers I have ever seen on this LP
Side A = 613008 A//1 0111
Side D = 613008 B ?2 420 124
Side B = 613009 A?2 420 1112
Side C= 613009 B//2 420 1312
Side 'A' plays the tracks that should be on Side 'D'
Sides B, C and D play as they should.
In other words, the Side 'D' tracks appear twice.
Normally a "Factory Sample" mis-pressing such as this would be rejected by the manufacturer's Quality Control officer and destroyed. However, this one escaped the net and was sent to a music journalist for review - which is where I came across it when I bought a batch of her records a few years back.
This is the 1968 UK pressing of Electric Ladyland with the fully laminated 'nude' Ernest J Day gatefold cover.
Cover: Laminated (inside and out) E J Day gatefold cover. This has the white text on the inner gatefold. In lovely condition - Excellent+. No writings, doodles or seam splits. Nice spine. Just some slight wear to the corners and some minor laminate creasing on the front.
Vinyl: Play tested. Some light crackle here and there but generally a very respectable sound. Rates as VG+ to Near Excellent. If you particularly like Side 'D' tracks (Still Raining Still Dreaming, House Burning Down, All Along the Watchtower, Voodoo Chile - Slight Return) then this is a real treat for you as you get to hear them twice. However, if you are a big fan of Side 'A' tracks (And The Gods Made Love, Electric Ladyland, Crosstown Traffic, Voodoo Chile), you are out of luck.
Labels: Excellent. No writings/doodles/stickers. All the labels give the correct details of what should be on the 4 sides of vinyl - even though Side 'A' incorrectly plays Side 'D' tracks.
Postage & packaging: £4 (UK) £9 (EUROPE - signed for) & £11 (REST OF THE WORLD - signed for)
