Vinyl: Absolutely superb, with hardly a blemish at all, it retains that black gloss look, just like new.
Side A; is superb, looking at it in normal light you can’t see any marks, even angled against the light and you can only make out 2 hairline marks which do not affect the fantastic audio. EXCELLENT+
Side D; is even better, I cannot see any hairlines or wispy lines at all. NEAR MINT
Side B; is similar to side A, I can’t see anything in normal light but tilted to the light you can see 1tiny hairline and a couple of wispy lines. EXCELLENT+
Side C; is like side D, without any hairlines or wispy lines. NEAR MINT
OVERALL GRADE; EXCELLENT+ to near Mint
Vinyl (play graded)
This record has superb audio right from the first opening track through to the last.
There is NO distortion at any point during the playback on either disc. The stereo reproduction is magnificent with a fantastic sound separation.
The vocals are crisp and clear and play without any clicks or pops or any annoying crackling.
GRADED; EXCELLENT+
As with most vinyl you can get some static in the quiet moments and run offs, and sometimes the odd light tick, normally a good clean gets rid of this.
Labels: The classic 1st press labels are superb, with hardly any spindle marks, no foxing or any writing or anything else that shouldn’t be there.
Original first pressing Black Track labels such as this one have a slightly different texture to the paper, but the single most important difference between the first and later Track and Polydor pressings is the catalogue number on the label.
On the left side of the centre hole, the catalogue number is repeated above the bold silver print in small printing, inverted in a bracket, i.e. upside down. In other words it can be read regardless of which way up you see the record.
Those bracketed catalogue numbers end with a capital "A" or "B" per side on both record labels and this is only found on the very first pressing and Electric Ladyland" overlapping the centre indent and there is a small gap between the words "Jimi Hendrix" & "A.Schroeder Music"..
All sides have minimal signs of use, hardly any spindle trails.
Grade Label A; EXCELLENT to NEAR MINT
Label D; EXCELLENT to NEAR MINT
Label B; EXCELLENT to NEAR MINT
Label C; EXCELLENT to NEAR MINT
Sleeve: Original UK fully laminated 1968 gatefold sleeve.E.J Day BLUE TEXT sleeve complete with original inners.
This one looks great, especially considering the nature of these fragile sleeves, no dulling, no bad marks at all, no seam splits, and still strong and solid after all these years. Only has a few minor signs of ageing such as just a very small amount of light creases and corner rub (as with most) all of which you can clearly see in the large amount of photos I have taken so you can see it from every angle.
This is a great iconic sleeve, and a TRUE rarity to find one as this - most have been virtually destroyed or are just about being held together, but not this one. The colours are vibrant and the iconic artwork looks absolutely magnificent.
The spine remains strong and solid. The only blemish being that there is a small scuff (see photo), even with this in mind; This legendary "nude" laminated gatefold sleeve is the holy grail blue lettered sleeve, which are getting few and far between, although this is not in a mint condition it is not trashed either, it is in a very good condition for one of these. The colours are vibrant and all the text is clear, there is no unwanted writing anywhere, just general wear. There are a couple of creases and a small scuff on the spine (as you can see in the photos) the rest is fine.
(THIS IS A VERY NICE COLLECTABLE SLEEVE)
GRADED; VERY GOOD+
Inner sleeve: These original inner poly lined sleeves are in fantastic condition as you can see from the photos.
They are kept separate from the vinyl as they are housed in brand new poly liners.
They have Made in England 108 for A&D and Made in England 098 for B&C.
Both have ‘Plastic Bags Can Be Dangerous’ I believe the numbers refer to the date 108 = October 1968, 098 = September 1968.
GRADED; EXCELLENT
Notes: This is a very rare and collectable album which has superb vinyl, with a very good sleeve with the all-important Blue text on the inside.

or deterioration in sound quality.
The cover and any extra items are in perfect condition.
Records advertised as sealed or un-played should be mint.
EXCELLENT:
The record shows some signs of having been played,
but there is very little lessening in sound quality.
The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.
VERY GOOD:
The record has obviously been played many times,
but displays no major deterioration in sound quality,
despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch.
Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items,
without any major defects, is acceptable.
GOOD:
The record has been played so much
that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated,
perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches.
The cover and contents suffer from folding,
scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.
FAIR:
The record is still just playable but it has not been cared for properly
and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.
