JIMI HENDRIX - 'ELECTRIC LADYLAND' UK 2LP. NUDE Gatefold Sleeve. TRACK RECORDS (Cat # 613008/9)

As I’m sure you’re all aware, traditionally this LP couples Sides A & D on Disc 1, and Sides B & C on the other. I don’t claim to be an expert, but in 20 years of collecting, this is the first one that I’ve come across that differs from this set up.

To reiterate; Side A starts, as you would expect with ‘AND THE GODS MADE LOVE’. Turn the same record over and Side B begins with ‘LITTLE MISS STRANGE’. The second disc starts with ‘RAINY DAY, DREAM AWAY’ on Side C, whilst the flip side (D) begins with ‘STILL RAINING, STILL DREAMING’. I played the record through twice (it’s a hard life!) just to make doubly sure because I couldn’t quite believe it myself.

It is quite apparent that this album has been re-labelled, i.e. new labels are stuck on top of old ones. The label on Side B has come away slightly at one edge to reveal that there are definitely black Track labels underneath. I am not prepared to remove the top labels for fear of damaging them.

It is my belief that this is a mis-pressing, and the error has tried to be corrected by re-labelling the discs to correspond with the vinyl. Again, I am not 100% sure that this is the case, and I welcome any info on this anomaly, which I can add to this description in due course.

DISC 1 SIDE A, The label states the cat. number as 613008. The matrix number in the run-off groove was 613008 A//1. The 8 has been scratched off and replaced with the number 9. SIDE B, The label states the cat. number as 613009. The matrix number was 613008 B//1. The 8 has been scratched off and replaced with the number 9.

DISC 2 SIDE C, The label states the cat. number as 613009. The matrix number in the run-off groove was 613009 A//1. The 9 has been scratched off and replaced with the number 8. SIDE D, The label states the cat. number as 613008. The matrix number was 613009 B//1. The 9 has been scratched off and replaced with the number 8.

CONDITION: This record is in fabulous condition. I can confidently grade it as a strong EXCELLENT. Apart from approx 5 seconds of light crackle at the beginning of Sides B & C and the occasional pop during some of the very quiet passages on '1983...' it is in EXCELLENT +++ playing condition.

The Gatefold sleeve is also in EXCELLENT condition. hardly any creasing in the usual places, corners, spine. The laminate is still nice and neat, with only one crease on the front cover.

As you can see by the close up photos of the labels, a tiny amount of gum used for re-labelling has seeped on to the run-off groove. This has resulted in a small build up of fluff and dust in small places at the labels edge. I want to make clear THIS DOES NOT AFFECT PLAY. It doesn't even touch the actual groove in the run-off area, so therefore your needle will not come into contact with it either.
