'The Cry Of Love' is the first studio album to be released after Hendrix's death and was released in February 1971. The album was engineered, mixed and complied by Eddie Kramer and Mitch Mitchell with the cover illustration by Nancy Reiner. 'The Cry Of Love' and 'Rainbow Bridge' comprises the bulk of the most complete material that Hendrix was intending to release on his next double LP titled either 'First Days Of The New Rising Sun' or 'Strate Ahead'. The album was recorded from December 1969 to the summer of 1970 except 'My Friend' which was recorded during the early stages of 'Electric Ladyland' in 1968. 'Belly Button Window' was Hendrix's last studio recording with vocals, and was recorded at Electric Lady Studios on August 22, 1970.
This album is now 40 years old and in fantastic condition!!! Rock collectors would love to own one in this amazing condition!!! I've played it on my Pioneer PL 550-X, the sound is amazing! Plays with no distortion or jumps!!! There is a little crackle and a few clicks on the A Side but nothing to spoil a truly wonderful listen.
