Description
Alphabetically filed (SM?)
This is probably the very first pressing, IN MONO of course, and the vinyl is VISUALLY graded and
looks Near-Mint (also called MINT MINUS) with nice clean labels.
The labels do have a few light spindle marks on both sides.
Both sides have ONLY machine Stamped matrix numbers in the "dead-wax" run-out grooves:
A side: 6 1 2 0 0 1 A ? 1 followed by a bit of space, then a VERY faint machine stamped 1 followed shortly thereafter by a machine stamped 3 that was sloppily stamped and has "double" effect:
see our close-up photos of the a-side dead-wax!
B side: 6 1 2 0 0 1 B immediately followed by a strongly stampd A with the ? symbol FAINTLY superimposed so that it looks like a machine stamped 5-pointed "star" symbol, then a cleanly stamped ? and then 1 and then another faintly stamped character that could be a 1 or a different character, then further down the dead wax is one last faintly stamped 1.
The jacket is VG+ to VG++ with nice glossy lamination, and the spine and seams are intact.
The corner points have minor wear, front has creasing under the lamination, mostly on the bottom corners (see photos) and a few light short creases at other locations, and some of these creases have created an intact "air-pocket" of space between the inner layer and the clear outer layer.
The front outer layer has shrunken slightly, with an eighth inch of visible edges of adhesive residue - this often happens when a well-preserved LP jacket is more than half a century old!
This record comes with a nice poly-lined inner-sleeve, but it's probably NOT the original sleeve as it's missing any printing credits or Great Britain imprint.
The spine is flattened and so the spinal printing is partially visible from both sides.
Needless to say this is a MUST-OWN piece for any self-respecting, fanatical collector!
