  JIMI HENDRIX-ELECTRIC LADYLAND 1st PRESS TRACK 613008/9 On Offer is the 1968 FIRST PRESSING on the TRACK RECORD Label of:
ELECTRIC LADYLAND by The Jimi Hendrix Experience

This is the RARE first pressing of the DOUBLE album on the TRACK Label Catalogue No. 613008/ 613009
It has the notorious "NAKED LADIES" laminated gatefold cover. (Photo by David Montgomery).
This is the third and final album by the JIMI HENDRIX EXPERIENCE released in the UK in October 1968. It is a STEREO copy.
(It was first released in September 1968 in the USA on 'Reprise Records', was mastered by Reprise and had the WARNER7 ARTS/Reprise
roundel logo, but the early US mastering does not capture the same hi-fidelity quality sound which is found on THIS THE UK ISSUE).

Sleeve / Cover
VG+
The Gatefold cover is the 'NAKED LADIES' one-piece front/back spread sleeve designed by David King has the "hi-gloss" lamination inside and out.

According to the Discogs information which says...

"The lamination on Track issue early sleeves was poor, leaving exposed print on the two opening edges and
around all four edges of the inside spread.
Bubbling, creasing & de-lamination also occurred and 'perfection' is an unlikely find (until the later improved Polydor release)"

THIS COVER is in pretty good condition considering it's age.
The spine is a bit scuffed and well worn, there are a few creases front & back and there is some fairly mild ringwear-
but more importantly it feels and looks "right" for it's age ... the music within is even more important!).

Discog continues...

"First press Track issues have all-blue text in two versions. The Hendrix picture is either on the right when opened (most common), or on the left (rare). This is a result of the spread being rotated in production. This can go unnoticed, as the spread is viewed vertically for it to be read, rather than horizontally. First press Track issues can also have the same layout, Hendrix on right, but with a blue track list & white logo as a third version. On all three versions the 2 sepia images of Redding & Mitchell, by Donald Silverstein, are large, with the print credit grouped to the left..."

"There is then a fourth Track version, STILL FIRST PRESS with all white text and the print credit centered. On this the 2 sepia images are significantly reduced in size, surrounded by the black background."
(This then is the copy or rather version, that is on offer here).
Inside, the picture of Hendrix is on the right. The track listing is white-out type and the sepia photos of Noel Redding and
Mitch Mitchell are the smaller centered versions. The Donald Silverstein credit for the photos is in small white-out type.
As is the TRACK RECORD LOGO.

"...A fifth version is the same layout as the fourth, but the Track logo is replaced by the Polydor logo. This is the most common release."

Vinyl.
VG++ On a purely visual inspection of this album (I haven't got a working deck at the moment) there are age-related superficial scuffs and marks,
but there are superficial but no deep scratches or gouges and again it looks pretty good on all four sides...

The vinyl has the significant "hand-etched" correction changes (because of the catalogue changes) to the wax matrix stamped I.D. on the run-out that further denotes this as a FIRST PRESS.

SIDE A has the stampers 61300XX8A//1 1 2
SIDE D has the stampers 11 61300X8 B//1 1 2
SIDE B has the stampers 61300X9AX//1 1 2 1 1
SIDE C has the hand etched stampers 613009 B XXXXXXXXXX//1 1 2 1
(Where X and the red represent the hand-made changes...)

LABEL INFORMATION
See label photo.
Disc 1 label is CAT 613008 suffixed by A&B on sides marked A&D.
Disc 2 label is CAT 613009 suffixed by A&B on sides marked B&C.
These suffixed cat no's are in parenthesis, inverted above the suffixed cat no.
This cataloguing decision to auto-couple resulted in wax changes to the '...8' and '...9' and 'sides' order.
There is a subtle label change between the 1st & 2nd press in that in the 1st press SIDE A has the title "Electric Ladyland"
overlapping the centre indent and there is a small gap between the words 'Jimi Hendrix Experience' & 'A. Schroeder Music'.
This is yet another indicator that this is definitely a first press as the 2nd press has "Electric Ladyland" clear of the indent and closer to the "A. Schroeder Music" which in turn moves closer the the "Made In Britain" at the bottom of the label.

The white poly-lined inner sleeves both have the blue imprint British Patent No. 800513 & 973939 Made In England
The album is auto-coupled i.e. Disc 1 has sides A/D & Disc 2 has sides B/C

I am in the process of selling a few rare and unusual records, some in MINT and some in the EXCELLENT range of condition.

I try to grade records as accurately and as fairly as I can, as I have found that things I have bought on eBay have mostly been described pretty well, with only a couple in a hundred and ninety-odd transactions being not quite as described - but near enough for me not to complain!

MINT (M) - Sealed and/or obviously unplayed. Perfect condition.

NEAR MINT (NM) - Vinyl in new condition, record may have been played once or twice.
The cover may have very, very slight wear and/or creasing.

EXCELLENT. (EX) - The record shows evidence of being played with a few light surface marks or scuffs. the cover posssibly has slight general wear.

VERY GOOD (VG) - The record shows signs of being played a lot with a few light scuffs, scratches and subject to normal wear and tear.

GOOD - Plays reasonably well but has lots of scuffing/scratching that may be distracting. The cover shows lots of wear with creasing, tears and splits.
