Description
For auction is the JIMMY HEATH SEXTET's "The Thumper" on Riverside RLP 12-314, MONO, DG, 1960. With Nat Adderley, Curtis Fuller, Wynton Kelly, Paul Chambers, Albert Heath.
SOUND: VG+
It has been machine-cleaned and I listened to both sides completely. Overall the playback is great, with bright, clean sound. That said, there are a couple of brief instances of ticks, as well as minor background noise, really only audible during softer passages. I'm being ultra-conservative for completeness. Only a perfectionist would complain. Really a great listen.
VINYL: VG/VG+
The vinyl has several short marks and scuffs on either side, a couple of which can be felt. So overall, moderate wear on the vinyl, but it actually plays a notch better than it looks. The small blue "mike-and-reel" labels have deep-grooves and are in very nice condition, but with a few spindle marks.
COVER: VG/VG+
The bottom center has a 2-inch split, and the top right 3-inches. Spine is solid with average wear. Corners a little soft with a touch of fraying, not too much. Both front and back are very nice, fairly clean and unmarked, with minor, routine wear or aging.
The photos are of the exact record up for bids. Look before you bid, ask if you want any additional info or pics.
Not perfect, but very nice playback, and a performance that cooks. Great record. No reserve, bidding starts at $20.
Every record I auction has been cleaned on a Nitty Gritty vacuum/cleaner. I played every record to determine if there are static, tics, pops, hisses, what have you. I endeavor to thoroughly report any extraneous audio "noise" or problems of any significance. Other than that, I will report on the general condition of each record, both vinyl and jacket, according to Goldmine standards, to the best of my ability.
Every record is put into a new, clean sleeve insert. In the case of an interesting original sleeve insert, I'll include that in the sale.
If you're into this stuff, you might want to save me to your seller's list and check back periodically. I'll be putting a lot of vintage jazz records up for auction. I'm not a collector, nor an audiophile, but I think they are desirable if you're into this kind of material. Click "see other items" and thanks for looking!
