JIMMY JAMES & The Blue Flame Live (aka JIMI HENDRIX) + autographs
This Album, briefly released in the UK in 1984 by the Premier record label under the misleading title of Jimi Hendrix: In the Beginning, is in fact an exceptionally rare live recording of the band ‘Blue Flame’ formed by Jimi Hendrix in New York City in June 1966, while using the name stage name JIMMY JAMES. For further historical information about Blue Flame, see
http://en.wikipedia.org/Wiki/Jimmy_James_and_the_Blue_Flames
Due to legal issues it was withdrawn from sale although re-released briefly in Germany in 1992, again being withdrawn from sale shortly thereafter. Apparently recorded at the New York City Café Wha venue, the band comprised: Jimmy James (Jimi Hendrix) lead guitar/vocals; Randy California, rhythm guitar; Randy Palmer, bass; and Danny Casey, drums. The band played together for three months before Hendrix was signed by manager Chas Chandler in September 1966 and departed for England to form The Jimi Hendrix Experience.

This item is accompanied by a set of autographs on pink paper comprising Jimi Hendrix, Noel Redding, Chas Chandler and Mitch Mitchell, signed on 28th October 1967 at the California Ballroom, Dunstable, Bedfordshire (www.california-ballroom.info/gigs/gigs-1967.htm) from the estate of a former ‘Cali’ staff member. At some point the right hand border of the pink paper was cut, resulting in part of the ‘x’ in Hendrix being cut off. This does not, however, detract from the over-all appearance of the item.
