Description
78 RPM 10" ACETATE in VG condition (quite a few scattered light marks on both sides not affecting play very much. Some noise -- no cracks in finish and no deep offensive scratches).
This is a 10" demo ACETATE (read more about acetates below)
This is very possibly your only chance to own what could easily be a one of a kind 1950s Blues / R&B recording. These tracks by JIMMY PRYOR do not appear in any discographies. At least not that I can find. These appear to be two bluesy spirituals by sung by Jimmy "the batman" Pryor who played on a few Fortune recording sessions and not long after that relocated to Iowa and was a well known piano and guitar bluesman there. This is probably a demo session that never saw a release. Probably recorded at Bristoe Bryant's studio or at least the acetate was cut there. Long internet searches reveal nothing else. A rare acetate for certain and a great find for fans of Jimmy Pryor
The sound files have some blank spots. This is to protect the property of the auction winner.

Look Out My Window
Bristoe Bryant was a DJ at WJLB radio in the 1950s and recorded many pre Motown R&B artists at B & B studios and was supposed to have sold Berry Gordy the actual tape machine from B & B. That machine was supposedly used in the earliest Motown studio.
ACETATES are plastic coated aluminum discs that were custom "cut" at the studio and used for demos or reference. They are meant for temporary use but will last well if stored well and played sparingly. Many of the most unique and rare moments in record collecting are recorded only on acetates
