This is the first edition, 1957, Deep Groove, Flat Rim, "RVG" etched, Laminated Cover, "P" pressing of JIMMY SMITH’s "A Date With Jimmy Smith, Volume 1" on the "47 West 63rd New York 23" labels of Blue Note BLP 1547. Musicians include Smith, Eddie McFadden, Hank Mobley, Donald Byrd, Lou Donaldson, Art Blakey.
This FLaT RIM VINYL plays with consistent loud surface noise (i.e, static, ?? or ???? , relative to the volume of the music/instruments) with pops and ticks. Instruments are dynamic, strong and present with clear transients, powerful extension and full tone. No distortion. No skips. Many hairline marks and scuffs, several feelable. See photos. The Deep Groove labels show much wear, tape residue, 15”, spindle marks. See photos.
LAMINATED COVER is in good condition. Corners worn. See photos. Spine and seams show cracking, top and bottom seams have 3” tape at opening. “J282” sticker. See photos. “BLUE NOTE RECORDS, 47 West 63rd St., New York 23" back jacket shows wear, tap. See photos.
This LP was play-tested on a high-end system. ALL RECORDS CLEANED ON ULTRASONIC VINYL CLEANING MACHINE.
