Description
This Van Gelder recording was live at Small’s Paradise in new York on November 15, 1957 and features: Jimmy Smith (org) Eddie McFadden (g), Donald Bailey (d). SIDE 1: AFTER HOURS and MY FUNNY VALENTINE. SIDE 2: SLIGHTLY MONKISH and LAURA. There is an “EAR” and the initial “RVG” stamped on both sides of the black vinyl. The address on the label is “NEW YORK USA”. The address on the record jacket is “47 West 63rd St, New York 23”. Blue Note was using up all of their covers at this time. This is a MONO recording.
I’ve graded both the vinyl as M- and the record jacket as EX for the following reasons. The vinyl shows no damage or marks on either side and it retains its original luster. There is no sign of wear in or around the spindle hole on either side. The record jacket has a very small tear on the cover in the middle of the right side. You can probably see it in the photo. On the liner notes is written an “X 3.50” on the top left corner. The LP slot has widened over time, but it is slight.
