JIMMY SMITH “Rockin’ The Boat” RVG, DG, P, LAM, Blue Note BLP 4141 Mono Vinyl
This is the “VAN GELDER” stamped, Laminated over, Deep Groove, “P” pressing of JIMMY SMITH’s “Rockin The Boat” on the "New York USA” labels of Blue Note BLP 4141. Musicians include Jimmy Smith – organ, Lou Donaldson – alto saxophone, Quentin Warren – rhythm guitar, Donald Bailey – drums, "Big" John Patton – tambourine (tracks 2, 3 & 6).
VINYL plays with light surface noise (i.e, crackle, static, ?? or ????, relative to the volume of the music/instruments), with occasional pops and ticks. No skips. Very good gloss. Very powerful, clean recording. Handful hairline marks. The Deep Groove (one side) “New York USA” labels are clean. See photos.
LAMINATED COVER is in excellent shape. Corners worn. Spine and top seam very good, slight split middle of bottom seam. BLUE NOTE RECORDS, INC., 43 West 63rd St., New York 23” back jacket shows writing, minor water damage on lower seam. Please see photos.
This LP was play-tested on a high-end audio system. RECORD CLEANED ON ULTRASONIC CLEANER. Record photographed before final clear rinse/dry.
