This is the 1959 first edition, mono, “RVG,” Deep Groove, “P”-pressing of JIMMY SMITH’s “The Sermon!” on the Blue Note Records 47 West 63rd NYC labels of Blue Note BLP 4011. Musicians include Lee Morgan, Lou Donaldson, Tina Brooks, Kenny Burrell, Art Blakey, George Coleman, Eddie McFadden, Donald Bailey.
VINYL: Extremely low-level surface noise well beneath the instruments on this very dynamic original Blue Note classic. A handful of hairline marks but no feelable scratches. No distortion, no warps, no skips. Full tone and superb dynamics. The Deep Grooved Blue Note Records 47 West 63rd NYC labels are clean with minimal spindle marks.
LAMINATED COVER is in excellent condition. Solid colors and inking. No spine-split. See photos. Corners worn. See photos.
This LP was play-tested on a high-end system consisting of Music Hall MMF-7.3 turntable/Ortofon Bronze cartridge/Music Hall Moo Mat, Heed Audio Elixir integrated amplifier, Heed Quasar Phono stage and Quad S2 speakers (with revealing ribbon tweeters).
