Description
Easily one of the most important records ever made, John Coltrane's A Love Supreme was his pinnacle studio outing that at once compiled all of his innovations from his past, spoke of his current deep spirituality, and also gave a glimpse into the next two and a half years.
"An all-time classic expanded to include unreleased sextet recordings from Coltrane's personal tapes; 20-page booklet with the artist's musical notations, rare images and an essay by Ashley Kahn" (on sticker)
"A Love Supreme" originally released in 1965 as Impulse! AS-77 (stereo version)
℗ © 2016 The Verve Music Group, a Division of UMG Recordings, Inc.
All tracks on LP 2 and LP 3 are previously unreleased, except side D tracks D3 and D4, and side E tracks E1 and E2, previously issued 2002; side E tracks E1 and E2 are in stereo for the first time.
Booklet, page 18:
Original analog tapes were used for all tracks except LP 2/Side 4 tracks 3 and 4, which by necessity were sourced from digital copies. LP 1 and LP 3 are stereo, LP 2 is mono. Dropouts and other minor tape anomalies that may be heard are a by-product of the historical nature of his material, some of which derives from Coltrane's personal collection, and were not corrected or otherwise manipulated.
