Description
Very rare 1968 Impulse! A-77 Stereo repress of the 1965 original in thick laminated gatefold sleeve, with red and black late 60s ABC Impulse labels. It still has the essential "Van Gelder" mastering stamp in the vinyl runouts (seriously, the only real difference with these late 60s pressings are the labels; same mastering and pressing quality, same gatefold packaging, etc. Considering what the orange and black label originals go for, these can be a bargain). Widely considered the greatest of Coltrane's many masterpieces, incredible sound on heavyweight 60s vinyl, these RVG originals can never be beat for gorgeous analog sound quality.
In amazing condition for its age, play tested and VPI cleaned, there is fair amount of light hairline scratches visible under bright light, but none that interfere with the sound, the record is a strong VG+, plays excellent, very clean (even the quiet bass solo plays great!) The gatefold cover has some general shelf wear from age, and a little bit of the lamination has begun to peel on the back cover near the opening, but still really beautiful for is age, quite vibrant and sturdy with sharp corners, still a solid VG+ (see photos!).
Packed and shipped with extra care. You can combine any records I am selling for a significant shipping discount. Thanks.
