Bahia is an album credited to jazz musician John Coltrane, released in 1965 on Prestige Records, catalogue 7353. It is assembled from unissued results of two separate recording sessions at the studio of Rudy Van Gelder in Hackensack, New Jersey in 1958. As Coltrane's fame grew during the 1960s long after he had stopped recording for the label, Prestige used unissued recordings to create new marketable albums without Coltrane's input or approval. It's Coltrane phrasing. It's Coltrane easier.

Not the conceptual hardbop Coltrane but the great soloist in two wonderful standard slow ballads "My Ideal" and "Something I Dreamed Last Night".

The opening is an exotic uptempo version of Brazilian traditional Samba classic "Bahia" by the late composer Ary Barroso, the same composer of "Brazil" ("Aquarela do Brasil").

A different and necessary Coltrane!     A fabulous jazz album!!

This is the ORIGINAL PRESTIGE 7353 LP record.  The cover is in excellent condition.
