FORMAT: 12" 33 1/3 RPM LP ARTIST: John Coltrane TITLE: Blue Train LABEL: Blue Note NUMBER: 1577 MONO/STEREO: High Fidelity Mono
This auction is for John Coltrane's Blue Note (Blue Note 1577). The label on the record describes itself as a "Long Playing Microgroove" pressed at Blue Note Records Inc 47 West 63rd NYC. The dead wax has RVG, the "ear" and "9 M" printed on Side 1, and RVG, the "ear", and "9 M" printed on Side 2. The record is in over all Very Good condition. Side 1 is in VG+ condition with light needle marks that don't affect the sound much. Side 2, however, is in VG- condition. It has several needle marks in the second track that cause popping and crackling in the background.
The cover is in VG to VG+ condition. The laminate on the front is near perfect, except for the upper right corner. The board is slightly bent in that corner, which has resulted in the laminate peeling. The laminated edges have some slight cracking, but no splitting. The program on the back is slightly yellow from the age, but no rips or tears. There is some faded writing on the upper left corner. Otherwise, the rear is in excellent condition.
