JOHN COLTRANE - *EXPRESSION*
IMPULSE AS-9120 (STEREO - US LP) - JOHN COLTRANE - *EXPRESSION*
I tend to agree with many collectors who consider Coltrane’s output on IMPULSE
his best work. This posthumus last session lp is not titled as a ‘memorial’ or a ‘tribute’ … it was titled by
Coltrane himself the Friday before his death on July 17, 1967. Free Jazz, Post Bop & Modal -
With Jimmy Garrison, Alice Coltrane, Pharoah Sanders and others.
It has all the matrix info on the vinyl as 1st press but has an early ABC/Impulse label.
Matrix / Runout (Side 1, stamped): AS-9120-A
Matrix / Runout (Side 2, stamped): AS-9120-B
Matrix / Runout (Side 2, stamped): VAN GELDER
Matrix / Runout (Side 1+2, etched): LW
DISC = EXC(+) Light play/handling - a beautiful LP. Just 2-3
insignificant, small handling blemishes …. NICE!!
COVER = NM Front & back slicks are nice - inside is minty.
Traces of shelfwear rubbing.
