Description

Up for auction is a very nice early stereo version of the John Coltrane album "Giant Steps" released on Atlantic Records (SD 1311) in 1958.  The blue and white label with the "black fan" indicate that this is a genuine second pressing.  Comes with original factory inner sleeve.  The cover is in beautiful shape, retaining its original high gloss laminate finish.  Nice sharp corners, no bumps.  Seams are strong and intact, no crack, chips or splits.  No ring wear, front or back.  Back cover is super clean with no writing or any age discoloration on its semi-laminate finish.  One small moisture mark on middle of bottom seam is the only real flaw to speak of (see photo).  I'd grade the cover Near Mint Minus (NM-). The vinyl is in equally super condition.  No obvious scratches, scuffs or marks.  No marks around the spindle holes.  Perhaps some very superficial and faint signs of having been taken in and out of paper inner sleeve--can't be felt, nor do they affect the beautiful play back in any way.  A very clean copy.  I've play tested it, and it sounds great, no distortion to speak of, no surface noise that will distract you from the music listening pleasure.  From my understanding, the early stereo versions of "Giant Steps" may, in fact, be more rare than the mono versions, but I can't confirm that.  I've listened to both, and the stereo version surprisingly holds up well in comparison to the mono.  I'd grade this disc a Near Mint Minus (NM-).  If you can't afford the $300 or more for a near mint first pressing stereo version of this record, here's your opportunity to get one very close to that for a fraction of the price, and well worth it. 100% guaranteed satisfaction, risk free buying, or your money back.  No questions asked.
